ALAN Captcha Service is a privacy-safe bot defense service that supports anti-robot verification. ALAN Captcha Service helps you with your daily defense against unwanted bot and spam attempts. And all this without violating the privacy of your users or the requirements of the European Data Protection Regulation. This page informs you of our principles, values and policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of personal data when using ALAN Captcha Service and the choices you have in relation to that data. It is in ALAN Captcha Service's DNA to respect your privacy regarding any information we may collect from you via our Software-as-a-Solution (SaaS) services. This Privacy Policy is intended for the end users of our ALAN Captcha Service. By using the ALAN Captcha Service, you consent to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

  • ALAN Captcha Service
    The ALAN Captcha Service is an anti-bot defense service in the form of widgets (plugins) and associated APIs and capabilities, which is operated under URLs by scrinus web&co GmbH and embedded in websites and applications of service users.
  • Personal Data
    Personal Data is information about a living individual who can be identified from that information, such as their name, e-mail address or telephone number, or other non-public data in this context.
  • Usage data
    Usage data is automatically collected data that is generated either by the use of the ALAN Captcha SaaS or by the technical infrastructure of the ALAN Captcha SaaS itself.
  • Cookies
    Cookies are files that are stored locally in the browser area when a website is visited. In many cases, they are used to support the functions of a website or application.
  • Anonymous data
    Anonymous data is data that is not related to personal data. Anonymous data can no longer identify an individual person.

Any data generated by the system that could indirectly identify you (such as network IP addresses) will be anonymized so that it is no longer personally identifiable. We may collect information about how the ALAN Captcha Service is accessed and used ("Usage Data"). This Usage Data may include information such as

  • Version of the widget (plugin)
  • User agent, browser type, browser version, origin and referrer
  • Puzzle data such as puzzle type, apikey and sitekey, formkey with which it is associated.
  • Timestamp - the time and date of your visit
  • Interactions with the ALAN Captcha Service such as retries and other diagnostic data

Our ALAN Captcha Service does not use cookies that contain any identifiers or tracking that can be used directly or indirectly to identify end users or track individual usage activity on our ALAN Captcha Service.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We do NOT ask for any personal information, such as your first and last name, email address, cell phone number and/or online profiles.

Legal basis for processing

Any use of personal data takes place on a legal basis. scrinus web&co GmbH collects, uses and processes your personal data exclusively in accordance with the provisions of Austrian data protection law. We may only collect and process personal data if

scrinus web&co GmbH may use and disclose the collected data for various purposes:

  • To enable you to access and use our ALAN Captcha service
  • To operate, provide, maintain and improve our ALAN Captcha Service
  • To provide customer support
  • To collect data for reporting to users of the service
  • To monitor the use of our ALAN Captcha service

  • To comply with legal obligations, resolve any disputes and enforce our legal agreements and policies

Forwarding of data

scrinus web&co GmbH may pass on personal data to

  • our service providers, such as hosting partners, to enable them to provide their services
  • our employees to provide our ALAN Captcha Service and to prevent or investigate possible misconduct in connection with the ALAN Captcha Service

Please be aware that no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially reasonable means to protect your personal information and to prevent loss and theft and unauthorized access, disclosure, copying, use or modification, we are not responsible for circumvention of any privacy settings or security measures we have put in place.

Your data protection rights and the control of your data

ALAN Captcha Service aims to take reasonable steps to allow you to correct, amend, delete, or limit the use of your Personal Data.

In certain circumstances, you have the following data protection rights:

  • The right of access - You have the right to obtain information about the data collected about you at any time, free of charge.
  • The right to withdraw consent - You have the right to withdraw your consent to the use of your personal data at any time with effect for the future.

  • The right to erasure of the data we hold about you - if you request it, we will completely erase the data we hold about you in accordance with your instructions.

To request information, update, delete or withdraw your consent, please contact scrinus web&co GmbH at contact@webandco.com. Please note that we may ask you to verify your identity before responding to such requests. We will then provide you with the information.

However, in the event of the existence and for the duration of statutory retention obligations and in the context of data backup, we are entitled to continue to store data otherwise obliged to delete, including backups and logs, and to use and process the data insofar as this is necessary to fulfill the legal obligation.

Limits of this policy

Please note that this privacy policy only applies to the ALAN Captcha Service. The ALAN Captcha Service does not contain links to other sites that are not operated by scrinus web&co GmbH. The ALAN Captcha service is used by external websites and online services operated by users of the service. Therefore, this privacy policy does not apply to external websites and online services, even if they link to the ALAN Captcha service. Please note that we have no control over the content and policies of these external websites and online services and cannot accept any responsibility or liability for their respective privacy practices.

Changes to this policy

Please note that this Privacy Policy is subject to change at any time and without prior notice. We reserve the right to change, add or remove sections of the Privacy Policy as we deem necessary to comply with legal requirements, to improve the protection of personal information or for other reasons.
